Percentage to GPA Converter

What is the Percentage to GPA Converter tool?

Convert a percentage grade to a GPA and letter grade on the common US 4.0 scale (A+/A/A−…F). Also offers a simple linear estimate GPA ≈ (percentage − 60) ÷ 10 (capped at 4.0). Scales vary by school, so treat the result as a guide.

How do I use the Percentage to GPA Converter tool?

In the Percentage to GPA Converter: Fill in "Percentage grade (%)", "Method"; results are recalculated instantly as you type.

GPA？How does a percentage map to GPA?

It uses the common US 4.0 letter-grade table: 93–100 = A (4.0), 90–92 = A− (3.7), 87–89 = B+ (3.3), 83–86 = B (3.0) and so on, with below 60 as F (0.0). Some schools record 97 and above as A+ (still 4.0).

Why do different sites give different results?

Because there is no single standard: some schools start A at 94, some record A+ as 4.3, some use a linear formula, and India, China and Europe convert differently. Always use your school's or an evaluator's (such as WES) official scale.

When is the linear method useful?

Use GPA ≈ (percentage − 60) ÷ 10 (capped at 4.0) for a quick estimate when the letter grade does not matter: 60 or below ≈ 0, 70 ≈ 1.0, 80 ≈ 2.0, 100 ≈ 4.0. It is smoother than the table but does not match most schools' actual conversion.

Can it convert GPA back to a percentage?

This tool only goes from percentage to GPA. Because each GPA covers a range of percentages (4.0 covers 93–100), the reverse gives a range rather than a single value.
